Review of Air-Blast Response of Beams and Plates,

Abstract

The objective of the present study is to provide a comprehensive review or the behaviour of beams and plates which are subjected to air blast loadings. Since this is a compilation and analysis of published research results, it will also serve as a guide to the needs for future research. At first, loading characteristics and material properties are discussed. Then the responses of beams and plates are considered for various ranges of loading. Throughout the study nondimensional parameters which best represent the structural behaviour are presented. The selection of these parameters is determined by the requirement of most complete presentation with minimum variables. Also, similarities between beams and plates are derived and areas of deficient knowledge are pointed out.
