AMEDD (Army Medical Department) Psychology in the Seventies,

Abstract

In comparison to other MSC career fields psychology has faired extremely well in the 1970's. We have increased our field grade strength considerably and at a percentage which exceeds the average for the Medical Service Corps as a whole. Several new positions have been developed and many senior psychologists are assuming assignments external to traditional clinical or research roles. There is also increased opportunity for internship and post-doctoral fellowship training. On the negative side some good psychologists are leaving active duty after 5-10 years, which is resulting in some vacant positions for FY 1979.
