Review of Occupational Medicine Relevant to Aviation Medicine,

Abstract

Most of the personnel involved in Aviation do their job on the ground. Only a few of them has to perform their tasks in the air or in space. Therefore one could even consider Aviation Medicine as a specialized branch of Occupational Medicine. Because Occupational health Care of all personnel involved in Aviation will also be the responsibility of the medical service, it was considered useful to discuss Occupational Medicine at this meeting. As an occupational physician working in industry I am honoured by your invitation to start this meeting with a general review of Occupational Medicine. In the chapters following I shall try to present those items of Occupational Medicine which can be of interest for all personnel involved with Aviation.
