Abstract

In recent years, nonverbal behaviors have received increased attention from researchers interested in variables that may influence a client's progress in therapy and counseling. It is interesting to note that within the general nonverbal literature and in the counseling and therapy literature, certain nonverbal modalities such as eye contact and interpersonal distance have received a lot of research attention while others, particularly touch, have hardly been studied at all.
