Incineration of Explosives Contaminated Soils,

Abstract

The objectives of the Incineration of Explosives Contaminated Soils (IECS) project were as follows: The primary objective of these tests was to demonstrate the effectiveness of incineration as a decontamination method for explosives contaminated soils. The secondary objectives of the project was to: Develop a data base and appropriate correlations for designing and predicting the performance of the incinerator as a decontamination method; Determine the fate of the explosives and metals in the contaminated soils during/after incineration; and Measure pollutant levels in the stack gas to determine the air pollution control devices that would be required for incinerators that may be used in the future to incinerate explosives contaminated soils.
