Neurohumoral Response,

Abstract

Injury leads to a pattern of neural and hormonal changes that in turn initiate or modify the responses of a variety of organ systems. Depending on the extent of injury and on the underlying clinical setting, these responses may be beneficial or detrimental. In any event, the hormonal changes that follow injury and their metabolic consequences may be viewed as reflex responses to a set of stimuli associated with injury. (Author)
