Investigation Into Extrusion Molding,

Abstract

Most of double base propellants are manufactured by extrusion. For a better understanding of the extrusion process, tests were performed with carpet rolls of different colours. The extrusion were performed with and without an obstacle e.g. a trident and a orifice plate. It is recognized by sectional views the flow process and the friction in tube. A theoretical model for the discussion of the extrusion process is developed and discussed in detail. The result obtained, indicate that temperature tolerances and mechanical properties have to be attended for satisfactory production.
