Safe Separation Investigations for M483/M509 Projectile Lap Facilities,

Abstract

In support of the U.S. Army Plant Modernization Program, a continuing experimental program to establish safe separation (nonpropagation) distance between units of in-process energetic materials and/or ammunition end items is currently underway by ARRADCOM, for the purpose of upgrading existing and develop new, manufacturing and LAP (load, assemble and pack) explosive facilitiees. The objectives of this safety program are two fold; 1) to supplement and/or modify the present safety regulations and criteria pertaining to safe spacing of ammunition and energetic materials on intra and inter building transportation systems, and 2) to assist Army and GOCO explosive loading plants in their LAP facility layouts for the most effective and economic man-machine relationship. As part of this continuing safety program,
