Evolution of the Design Techniques for Helicopter Main Transmission Gearboxes,

Abstract

The paper shows the evolution of the design techniques adopted in FIAT AVIAZIONE for the helicopters main transmission gearboxes by means of the description of the mechanical units designed for the AEROSPATIALE helicopters: SA 321, SA 330, SA 360, SA 365. The technical solutions have followed a development strictly related to the customer required specifications. As an explanatory example, ad advanced main transmission gearbox for a medium twin engined helicopter is considered and some design solutions are shown.
