Do New Aircraft Need New Technologies and Certification Rules?

Abstract

New aircraft designs will use new technologies which will also change the overall layout as, for example, the available engine power. To avoid unnecessary disadvantages, certification rules should be updated. The optimum benefit will be achieved when the certification rules can be standardized for all countries in the Western World. The author concludes that new aircraft need new technologies and also modified existing- or new certification rules.
