Water Quality Data Analysis,

Abstract

Statistical analyses attempt to infer the characteristics of a group (the target population) by analyzing the characteristics of a small segment of the group (the sample population). Proper execution of the inferential process, data analysis and interpretation, is essential if the data collection program is to be cost-effective and provide significant information about the target population. This paper presents a brief discussion of the exploratory and confirmatory phases of data analysis and represents a distillation of an EWQOS (Environmental and Water Quality Operational Studies) technical report entitled Statistics for Water Quality Investigations that is currently being prepared at WES.
