Performed Fragment Warhead Recovery Tests,

Abstract

A series of preformed fragment warheads were designed and constructed. Each fragment was labeled so as to identify the warhead number and the column/row location of each fragment on the warhead. Single and multiple (simultaneous) warhead firings were conducted. Fragment initial velocities and beam spray were measured. The fragments were recovered, identified, and their impact locations were surveyed. Trajectory calculations are compared with fragment recovery results. The prediction of fragment enhancement in the vicinity of the maximum impact range is born out by the test results. (Author)
