Fleet Hardware Assessment Project -- A Survey of the Soldering Problems Observed in Navy Weapons Systems,

Abstract

The Fleet Assessment Project was established to gather information on the kinds of soldering problems observed in Navy weapons systems. A Navy team of electronics manufacturing and soldering experts examined a wide variety of hardware returned from the Fleet at several Navy activities during September 1986. The team focused on original manufacture, and used guidelines similar to criteria contained in WS-6536E to assess risk to observed defects. Significant findings related to the original manufacture of the hardware reviewed are presented. (Author)
