Non-Destructive Hand Soldering of Military Electronics,

Abstract

This paper will review and define terms in the trade, classification of tools, detrimental energy damage to components, and desirable design features of soldering tools. Described also is an example of equipment developed to solve the difficult problem of hand soldering multilayer boards. Test equipment and procedures are detailed for qualification of tools to Federal specifications. Suggestions are made to clarify and improve the specification preparation process.
