A Precision Vision-Aided Dispensing System for Circuit Boards,
Abstract
A sophisticated robotic adhesive dispensing system, is developed for production under funding from the Navy Manufacturing Technology Program. The system is used to dispense epoxy on microwave circuit boards and must compensate for manufacturing tolerances of the individual features to be epoxied. The fully automatic system utilizes a Puma 762 robot, machine vision, a servo X-Y positioning table, a computer controlled meter/mix/dispense unit, and tool exchanging capabilities. This paper discusses the technical approach used to perform a precision adhesive dispensing operation while accommodating the various tolerances of the microwave circuit board.
