Application of High Strength Grooved Wire in Fiber Protection,

Abstract

V Grooves were successfully machined on the high strength steel wire of around 3 mm diameter. Eight of thin coated fibers were protected in these grooves against pulling force of greater than 150kg(allowing 0.2% strain) and lateral pressure of greater 400kg/5cm. Many applications of this high strength grooved wire can be expected in design of optical fiber cable. (Author)
