High Heat-Resistant Optical Fiber Coated with Thermal-Cured Type Silicone and Fluorine Polymer,

Abstract

The coating technology of the optical fiber which has physical and optical stability at high temperature atmosphere is discussed. Thermal-cured type silicone and PFA were selected as the coating materials for the heat-resistant optical fiber. Same level of initial strength as usual nylon coated fiber was obtained for the silicone/PFA fiber. Moreover the life span of the fiber was estimated as 530 years at 150 C and longer life span was measured at below 150 C.
