A Fiber Optic Interconnect System for Severe Environments,

Abstract

A fiber optic data link for military and other severe environments has been developed. It includes a single channel optical fiber cable, a fiber terminus compatible with both single and multi-channel connectors, and easy to use application equipment. The system is designed to operate continuously from -55 C to +150 C. It is also resistant to attack from a variety of organic and inorganic fluids and can perform under severe shock and vibration conditions and on exposure to high radiation doses. (Author)
