Optical Fibre Cable in the Network of the Deutsche Bundespost (DBP),

Abstract

The paper will review the development and current implementation of optical fibre cable technology in the network of the Deutsche Bundespost. Both the technology and the uniform cable installation method will be described. The paper will also cover the economical implementation of optical fibre systems as a replacement for the copper cable network and the future provision of this technology as a basis for the establishment of a broadband subscriber line network in the Federal Republic of Germany.
