Live Fiber Identifier,
Abstract
A handheld instrument has been developed that allows craftsmen to determine whether a fiber is (1) a traffic carrying one, (2) a non-traffic carrying one, or (3) one preselected for splicing from a remote site through the injection of a specially coded optical signal. All this is done in a manner which causes little or no disruptions to an operational link. (Author)
