Pressurized Fiber Optic Cable Designs,

Abstract

Different concepts of pressurized fiber optic cable systems are presented. These systems maintain a static pressure throughout the continuous system length into the termination building including all splice points comprising the route. In these redundantly protective systems, an increase in the rate of gas flow into the system indicates outer sheath damage or penetration. The evolution of existing designs are studied along with a novel concept in a pressurized cable design. (Author)
