Blast Loads Behind Vertical Walls

Abstract

This paper presents preliminary design criteria for vertical cantilever blast deflector walls intented to reduce the blast environment from explosions detonated immediately behind the walls. The design criteria relates the peak blast overpressure, total blast impulse, and effective duration of the overpressure in a format that facilitates the design of blast deflector walls and the predication of the blast environment behind walls.
