DRAG COEFFICIENTS FOR IRREGULAR FRAGMENTS

Abstract

The Naval Surface Weapons Center (NSWC) has a continuing task from the Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) to establish methods for predicting the fragment hazards due to the inadvertant explosion of ordnance items. As part of this task, NSWC has established a computer model which predicts fragment hazards. The computer model calculates individual trajectories for each fragment recovered in small-scale fragment arena tests.
