Automation Strategy and Results for an Airbase Command and Control Information System (ABCCIS),

Abstract

The experiments with the ABCCIS subsystems in the operational environment have proved that the use of automation tools with respect to information supply improves the integrity of the information and facilitates the mission preparation. The bottlenecks with respect to the vulnerability characteristics of computers must be eliminated to improve the resistance of electronic information system against war violence. Up to now the automation concerning ABCCIS is directed to information supply mostly. The state-of-the-art of automation offers more possibilities to improve the information handling rate. The most important possibilities are: 1) extension of the decision and information handling support; 2) condensation and upgrading of information; 3) knowledge engineering. These items are the elements of the mission preparation system of the pending future.
