Hybrid Modeling to Reduce Maintenance Dredging,

Abstract

The hybrid modeling approach integrates physical modeling, numerical modeling, and analytical methods to produce results that are superior to other methods of predicting harbor sedimentation. The hybrid method is described in those processes for which it is best suited. For example, a physical model is used to describe three-dimensional hydrodynamics. Integrating the various solution methods permits the modeler to take advantage of the strengths of each method while avoiding its weaknesses. In this way, more processes can be modeled more accurately
