Radar Target Image by ISAR Case Study,

Abstract

This paper describes target imaging based on ISAR techniques. It consists of two parts: theoretical topics and experimental results. The former illustrates the suite of processing functions needed to obtain the target image starting from the radar echoes. Key processing steps include motion compensation and reconstruction of the reflectivity function. The second part of the paper illustrates an experimental setup based on a currently available tracking radar, a data recorder and off-line processing facilities. A high cross-range resolution image of a MB-339 aircraft has been obtained by processing recorded radar echoes from a Selenia X-band tracking radar.
