Photogyration and Photoinduced Structure Distorting in Doped Linbo sub 3 and Litao sub 3,

Abstract

In this work photoinduced phenomenons iron-doped (C= 0,01; 0,038; 0,05; 0,07 wt.%) and copper-doped (C =0,01; 0,025; 0,04 wt.%) lithium niobate and lithium tantalate single crystals have been investigated using the Raman scattering (RS) and IR-reflection spectroscopy. The following types of lasers were used as illumination sources: YAG:Nd(3+) (lambda = 10640 A); helium-neon (6328A; Ar(+)(5145, 4880 A); He-Cd(4416 A). A number of studies shows the existence of photovoltaic effect (PVE) in this crystals consisting of high voltage electric field appearance in illuminated regions. The PVE field is 1000 v/cm. in nominally pure crystals and that is 100,000 v/cm in the doped crystals. At the same time it is known that the electrogyration effect could take place with the external electric field imposed on the crystal.
