Some Uses of Quantile Plots to Enhance Data Presentation,

Abstract

Quantile plots are used to display data for better understanding and comparison of distributions. Splitting the quantile plot by a categorical variable helps one visualize an analysis of variance. Plots of of rank-transformed data corresponds to non-parametric methods and can also aid in the analysis of categorical data. As less abstract and more direct presentations of data than, for example, box plots, quantile plots can be more effective, in particular, when presenting to non-statisticians.
