The Gain Saturation by the Random Pulse Train and Noise Characteristics of Long Distance Soliton Based System,
Abstract
In this work we investigate the degradation of the signal power ratio (SNR) at the output of the communication line caused by the random fluctuations of a gain in lumped optical amplifiers. There are a few sources of gain fluctuation: effect of pump modulation, random deviation of Erbium concentration from one amplifier to the next and others.
