Accurate High Temperature Measurements in Microwave Environments,

Abstract

The paper win explore the use of Optical Fiber Thermometry (OFT) in applications where coupling of microwave energy is the form of heating. These include sintering of ceramic materials, brazing, analytical work and other applications ranging from 200 deg C to 4000 deg C. OFT includes both contact and non-contact temperature measurement based on Aluminum Oxide (Sapphire) optical sensors. Proper methods of application, heat transfer solutions and expected results will be explored. Recent developments resulting in total immunity of the sensor technology to electromagnetic interference will be explained.
