Synthesis of the N-Terminus of the Cytochrome Subunit in the Photosynthetic Reaction Center from Purple Bacterium Rhodopseudomonas Viridis,

Abstract

Photosynthetic reaction centers catalyse the light-driven electron transfer across the photosynthetic membranes. The centers are complexes of pigments and integral membrane proteins. The photosynthetic reaction center from the purple bacterium Rhodopseudomonas viridis contains three protein subunit of the c type and was the frst membrane protein complex which was crystallized. The mature cytochrome subunit re-reduces the photo-oxidized primary electron donor.
