Fully Developed Pipe Flow of Shear-Thinning Liquids,

Abstract

Measurements are presented of the rheology and fully developed pipe-flow of shear-thinning liquids under laminar, transitional and turbulent conditions. The flow measurements are confined for the most part to the radial variation of the mean axial velocity but some velocity fluctuation intensities are reported for transitional conditions. Comparisons with theory are made for laminar flow and with universal wall- and defect-law behaviour for turbulent flow. (Author)
