LDV Measurements in a Plane Wall Jet in a Large Enclosure,

Abstract

An experimental study of the flow field in a two-dimensional plane will jet at an inlet Reynolds number of 10,000 has been performed using LDV. By using a large test facility combined with high beam expansion ratio, high spatial resolution was obtained. Particular attention was given to the inner region of the wall jet and results, including the turbulent shear stress were obtained down to y(+) approx. 2. The effect of small deviations from orthogonality between the measured normal and axial velocity components was investigated and was found to be vary large, especially for the turbulent shear stress term. Correction formulae for this effect are given and experimentally verified. (Author)
