An Experimental Investigation of Velocity Bias in a Turbulent Flow,

Abstract

This paper presents the results of a detailed investigation on the effects of bias sources an the results of individual realisation LDA. Attention is focused an the effects of velocity bias, but amplitude bias will also be discussed. It is found that velocity bias is independent 2 D(+) data rate. When other bias effects are eliminated, the beat results will be obtained with the 2D+ weighting, since interarrival time weighting and sampling techniques can only be applied successfully at high data rates. Also, it is demonstrated that amplitude bias is caused by the finite value of the photomultiplier integration time. (Author)
