Trajectory Ambiguities in Phase Doppler Systems: Use of Polarizers and Additional Detectors to Suppress the Effect,

Abstract

This paper is devoted to a discussion of the particle trajectory effect, due to the Gaussian profile of the laser beam in phase Doppler technique. Preliminary results on the use of polarizers in near-forward detection to minimize the effects are first presented. Furthermore the use of additional detectors to suppress the effect in near-backward detection is extensively studied and documented. (Author)
