A Complementary Method for Simultaneous Measurement of Size and Velocity,

Abstract

A method for simultaneous determination of velocity and size of spherical particles based on measuring the temporal spacial between pulses is presented. The scheme is based on the fact that the time at which light reflected or refracted by a spherical particle is detected depends both on the position of the particle and on the direction of detection. A simple analysis of the method is presented and initial experiments confirm the principles of the method. (Author)
