Phase-Coupled LDV- and Piezo-Array Measurements in Unsteady Flows,

Abstract

Unsteady Cascade Flows project includes experimental investigations of unsteady flow phenomena in an inlet guide vane of a preswirl-controlled axial propeller-pump by means of phase-coupled measurements of a Laser-Doppler-Velocimeter and piezoelectric surface-pressure sensors. To investigate the basic flow conditions and flow states on the vane in dependence of flap deflections, the complex 3D-flow in the hydraulic propeller pump was reduced to a 2D-flow on a single vane-model. The rotor-stator interactions on the inlet guide vane were simulated by means of an additional flapping wing, which was installed downstream of the vane and could be oscillated at various frequencies and amplitude.
