The Evaluation of LDA Signals with Low SNR by a Fast Optical Burst Analyzer,

Abstract

A new method is proposed to evaluate LDA signals by means of an optical Fourier transform instead of a digital transform in order to determine the Doppler frequency of the burst. Because the optical Fourier transform is a two dimensional spatial operation the interpretation of the spectra obtained by the proposed method is different from the one dimensional case of a time signal. It is expected that the two dimensional spectra give additional information with a higher level of confidence for better determining the correct signal frequencies even when SNR is very low.
