Measuring 3-D Distribution of Void Fraction in Gas-Liquid Two Phase Flow Using Holography and Computer Image Processing,

Abstract

In this paper, a novel method for measuring 3-D distribution of void fraction in gas-liquid two phase flow is proposed. This method includes following four steps: Recording the flow pattern of gas-liquid two phase flow by pulsed laser holography technique; obtaining the tomogram of gas-liquid two phase flow in different sample space by using the technique of reconstructing the hologram and extracting tomograms; obtaining the void fraction from the tomogram by using computer image processing technique; Determination of 3-D distribution of void fraction in gas-liquid two phase flow by using the method of net division to process the experimental data. Our initial experiments demonstrate that this method is possible for measuring the void fraction in gas-liquid two phase flow. (Author)
