Measurements in the Spray Cone of Pressure Atomizers Using a Factorial Design,

Abstract

The influence of surface tension and fluid viscosity on the atomization characteristics of pressure atomizers is investigated using a 2-d phase-Doppler anemometer. A factorial design technique is proposed in order to reduce the number of measuring points and extract a maximum of useful information. The four parameters varied in the present investigation are distance Z from the nozzle, fluid viscosity mu, surface tension sigma and fluid pressure rho. (Author)
