Flow Around a Surface-Mounted Cube,

Abstract

The flow field around a surface-mounted cube placed in a channel was investigated using a single and a two-component Laser-Doppler Anemometer (LDA), by performing wall-pressure measurements, as well as by conducting oil-film and laser-sheet flow visualization experiments. The aim of this study was to characterise the three-dimensional flow field around a surface-mounted cube through a detailed description of the global as well as local velocity field. All experiments were performed in a fully developed channel flow by a Reynolds number of 80 000, based on the channel height and the mean channel velocity. (Author)
