Particle Image Velocimetry Measurements of Propeller-Hull Interaction Behind a Model Ship,

Abstract

Particle Image Velocimetry recordings have been made in the wake of a 1:97 model destroyer. Up to 50 recordings were analyzed to provide average velocity vectors and cross flow components were measured by turning the measurement plane through 90 deg. A stereoscopic camera system was used to remove the directional ambiguity in the highly turbulent athwartship plane. (Author)
