Sleep Tendency and Ability to Sustain Wakefulness

Abstract

During sustained military operations it is often necessary to cope with prolonged periods of wakefulness and irregular rest activity patterns. In these situations a severe sleep debt can accumulate, leading to increasing levels of sleepiness on the job and, consequently, to dangerous decreases of performance.
