Airspace Surveillance for Air Battle Management

Abstract

Wining the air battle will be crucial in any future military campaign. Gaining the ability to use the air to our own ends while denying its use to the enemy requires adequate weapons con%nand and control (C2), communication and inionnation systems (CIS;) and sensors. In particular, air defence requires the support of airspace surveillance sensors - which is the topic of this paper. This paper focuses oil tlie future requirenlents for airspace surveillaiice (to support tlie nlaflageflleflt of tlie air battle), some of the options for future surveillance sensors and how they contribute to meeung the requirement.
