Energy Transfer Dynamics in the A(0 sub u(+)) State of Bi2

Abstract

Several optically pumped Bi2 (A-X) lasers were demonstrated in the late 1970's and early 1980's with photon efficiencies approaching 20%. Bismuth dimers also play an important role in the NF(alpha sup 1 delta) - BiF laser system. The current work reports on the collisional dynamics of the Bi2(A(0 sub (+)) state from a series of laser induced fluorescence experiments.
