Autonomous Navigation Technology
Abstract
This Project investigates use of sensors on the platform and available navigation signals to the localization and decision making of Robotic/Autonomous Systems. Additionally, it examines the use of machine learning algorithms for cooperative navigation to aid in a Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solution. This will enable the user to achieve operational overmatch in a Global Positioning System (GPS) impeded environment as well as enhanced navigation (reducing dependence on GPS) through challenging terrains. Work in this Project complements PE060343A (Network C3I Advanced Technology) / Project AW2 (Autonomous Navigation Advanced Technology). The cited work is consistent with the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering priority focus areas and the Army Modernization Strategy. Work in this Project is performed by the United States Army Futures Command.
