M-SHORAD Inc 3
Abstract
This funding line is directly aligned to the Army Air and Missile Defense Modernization Priority. Maneuver Short Range Air Defense Increment 3 (M-SHORAD Inc. 3) will provide next generation defeat capabilities with increased range and lethality, providing increased protection to the maneuver formations. Additionally, Inc. 3 will be compatible with the existing M-SHORAD Inc.1 platform and will provide a Soldier Portable Capability (SPC) to meet the need for dismounted air defense. FY 2023 funding (CS1) in the amount of $7.196 million supports Inc. 3 program initiation in second quarter FY 2023 with a competitive source selection evaluation to initiate technology verification for the next generation interceptor. The funding also initiates the prototype and development effort with contract award(s) scheduled for fourth quarter FY 2023.
