BASIC RESCH IN CLINICAL & REHABILITATIVE MED

Abstract

This Project supports basic research on experimental models that are developed to support in-depth trauma research studies. This Project includes studies to understand the healing of burned or traumatically injured tissues including eye, bone, nerve, skin, muscle, organs and composite tissues. Such efforts will minimize lost duty time and provide military medical capabilities for post-evacuation restorative and rehabilitative care. Research conducted in this Project focuses on Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine. Work in this Project complements and is fully coordinated with Program Element (PE) 0602787A (Medical Technology). The cited work is consistent with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Science and Technology, priority focus areas and the Army Modernization Strategy. Work in this Project is performed by the United States (U.S.) Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), Joint Base San Antonio, TX; and the Armed Forces Institute of Regenerative Medicine (AFIRM), which has multiple Institutes.
