Control of Spin Wave Dynamics in Spatially Twisted Magnetic Structures

Abstract

The objective of the research is to understand and effectively control the spin wave dynamics of magnetic structures twisted spatially in in-plane and perpendicular magnetized configurations. This enable the researcher to determine the optimum condition to effectively excite the spin wave modes. Once this is achieved, new methods for information writing of magnetic storage devices to balance competing goals for high coercive field can be developed. This is important to maintaining a good thermal stability of magnetization in a nanometer region, and low switching field, which could lead to device operation with lower power consumption.
