Nonlinear Photonic Systems for V- and W-Band Antenna Remoting Applications

Abstract

The objective develop a microwave generation system that offer better broadband tune-ability, high spectral stability and purity, higher power effectiveness, simple operation and relatively low cost. This research project aims to develop such improved system by applying a photonic approach to superimpose microwaves onto optical carriers, which will carry the microwaves through optical fibers. The photonic approach is expected to lead to the aforementioned improved characteristics. The research results will also provide a deeper understand of the features and characteristics of microwave amplification using nonlinear dynamics of semiconductor lasers.
